Participating in varsity football has been a transformative experience for me, significantly shifting my perspective and attitude toward life. Prior to my freshman year at [high-school], I struggled with shyness, low self-esteem, and avoided challenges that seemed insurmountable. However, football has fundamentally changed these traits. During the first day of freshman practice, the team engaged in a game of touch football to warm up. As the game progressed, I noticed that I wasn't putting in my full effort, hesitant to receive the ball and hesitant to take on responsibility. I was afraid of failing, afraid of letting my team down if I dropped the ball. This fear dictated my actions throughout the early years of high school.
